About Your Project

Constitutional Issues Research Paper

United States history has always been filled with controversy and question. When we are unclear about these issues, we often turn to our court systems to right the wrongs and punish those in the wrong. But how do we know what is “right” and “wrong”? It is not always simple. What has always helped guide our countries answers to controversial topics has been our Constitution. When these big issues come to the top court in our government, the Supreme Court uses our Constitution to interpret what our Constitution says about how we should handle those controversial issues.

In this project, you will choose a controversial topic that is of interest to you. By looking at this topic over time, how it made its way through the court system and explaining the Supreme Court case that made its decision about this topic you will be constructing a “timeline” of this controversial topic.
